Looking for some inspiration? Here are 5 business ideas for animal lovers to get you started.
Most pet owners buy some kind of toy for their animal to play with. If you like sewing or making small toy type items, you could sell them as dog or cat toys.
Bed or house designer
Some pet owners buy beds, playhouses or other furniture for their animals to use. Woodworkers or builders can create some of these larger items and sell them to pet owners or stores. Take your creativity and handiness and use it to start your own business.
Fish and reptile tank designer
Not all pet owners have dogs or cats. Those who own fish, lizards, snakes or similar pets need tanks. So if you can create some unique tank designs, you have a market to sell them.
If you are crafty you can make pet accessories. Think outfits, collars, bandannas and even shoes! Sell them online, at craft shows or even at pet stores.
Pet travel service provider
Travelling or moving when you’re a pet owner can be a stressful experience. You can offer a service that helps owners transport their pets, or branch out into doggy day care, dog walking, and pet sitting.
Tori started her business with the help of NEIS. After finishing school she wasn’t sure what direction she wanted to take until her dad sent her a text with a picture of a mobile dog grooming van.
That text started her self-employment journey. She enrolled in a dog grooming course, connected with New Business Assistance with NEIS and opened up her own mobile dog grooming business, Tori’s Pooch Parlor.
