How to get a job in the NDIS boom

Posted by

There’s a huge wave of jobs being created as part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Over the next five years, the boom in healthcare and social assistance should create 250,000 new jobs. Find out what jobs are growing the fastest and how you can get a foot in the door of a great career.

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) gives Australians with disability the support they need to live and enjoy an ordinary life. They might need help with health, education, transport and community involvement.

What kind of jobs are in demand?

One of the most popular jobs is a Disability Support Worker. You might help someone go to the shops or take them to an exercise class. You might clean their house, feed them, bathe them.

While you don’t always need formal training, doing a course like a Certificate III in Individual Support or a Certificate IV in Disability will improve your chances. Four out of five people who did these courses found a job. You can complete a course within a year and your provider can help pay the course costs, too.
